There are years of education and training, and thousands of hours of continuing education that goes into keeping chiropractic care safe and effective. Dr. Anthony Del Angel at Gonstead Physical Medicine has undergone such training in addition to a sports medicine focus to deliver the best chiropractic care in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Here’s a look at the education chiropractors receive, and the efficacy of chiropractic care.

Education and Training Chiropractors Receive

Chiropractors first earn a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university.  They then must earn their Doctor of Chiropractic degree at an accredited chiropractic college. Many chiropractors then go on to intern at a hospital or chiropractic clinic before going out on their own.

Specialized Training and Board Certification

In addition to their Doctor of Chiropractic degree, chiropractors may also choose to undergo further training in a certain specialty so that they can become board certified. This means that a chiropractor undergoes additional education and training in an area like sports medicine or nutrition and then sits for the qualifying board examinations. If he passes, he is Board Certified in that specialty.

How Effective is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is effective for a wide range of medical conditions, injuries, chronic pain, symptoms or side effects of medical conditions or medical treatment (such as chemotherapy), and mental health issues. You may not have instant relief after one appointment with a chiropractor, but if you faithfully complete your chiropractic care plan, you should see results.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Yes, chiropractic care is safe. It is a non-invasive, holistic form of treatment that can be effective for children and adults of all ages. While certain chiropractic treatments may require an initial evaluation to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure, most treatments are available to everyone.

Why Chiropractic Care is Considered Non-Invasive

Chiropractic care is considered non-invasive because it doesn’t require surgery, cutting into the skin, or any kind of invasive or internal procedure.
